The Peyton Ballenger Invitational was held February 7-11, 2012 at PGA National, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The Grand Haven Croquet Club was represented by Antonia & Vincent Marmo at this USCA sanctioned event.

The Peyton Ballenger Invitational was held February 7-11, 2012 at PGA National, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The Grand Haven Croquet Club was represented by Antonia & Vincent Marmo at this USCA sanctioned event.
Tournament Summary:
The Tournament was held over 5 days and was organized to allow “warm-up” on the first day of doubles, two days of “single tournament play” and a day for doubles play, with the semi-finals and finals taking place on Saturday.
Social activities, included an Opening Party at the PGA Members Club, BBQ, Buffets, Court Side Champagne Celebration during the Championship Finals Match and a Luncheon Celebration and presentation of the Trophies back at the PGA Members Club.

Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. Tuesdays games were played in the heavy rain; Wednesday was light rain; Thursday there were a few showers and 15-20 mph gusts of wind, with a sunny afternoon; Friday was cloudy morning with a sunny afternoon; and Saturday was JUST RIGHT for Championship Croquet |

Antonia and Vincent played in First Flight Doubles, but did not make the finals. They enjoyed playing with a previous Grand Haven Croquet Member Jenny Dees.

Vincent played in the Second Flight Singles and proceeded with 4 wins and 2 losses on the block to make it to the Semi-Finals, where he beat Sue Lawrence in the first match and then took home the Trophy for Second Flight Singles by beating Martie Ekstrom.
